Train vs. Car in Barron

At 1051 hrs on September 2 2017, an eastbound cargo train struck a vehicle at the N Mill Street crossing in Barron. Responders arrived to find a single-vehicle in the upright position in an adjacent yard, with two occupants and entrapment on the drivers side. The train came to a stop on the tracks approximately 300 yards east of the crossing site.

Upon extrication, the vehicle driver was pronounced onscene and the passenger was transported to Barron Hospital with minor injuries. No injuries to the train conductor and the train will be released to move around 1500 hrs.

No train derailment, no hazardous material substances, no additional hazards or evacuation concerns.

Incident cleared at approximately 1600 hrs.
