The National Weather Service has advised an increasing chance of heavy snow will develop Friday night across portions of central Minnesota into northwest Wisconsin. Initial forecasts of 4"-6" is expected throughout Barron County.

This band can still shift a bit from where it is currently expected. In addition, strong north winds developing Friday night could lead to areas of blowing snow. The strongest winds are expected across southern and western Minnesota, where little or no snow is expected. Wind gusts there could range from 40 to 50 mph. A Winter Storm Watch has been posted for Douglas, Todd, Morrison, Mille Lacs, and Kanabec counties for Friday night. A Wind Advisory will likely be needed for much of the rest of the area.
